The Wedding!

I'm making these pages to give anyone who is interested information about the wedding and anything do to with it. The most important thing that you will need to know is probably where and when.

Date and Time
Friday 27th July 2001 with the ceremony starting at 4.30pm - seconds to go until the big day:
Ceremony
4.30pm in Nuestra Señora de Montalegre, Barcelona city (translates as "Our Missus of Happy Mountain"!) - see a map of Barcelona
Reception
After the ceremony in El Turo Del Sol, St Vicenç de Montalt, Barcelona - see a map

Accommodation

At the moment Angie and I are trying to think about where people can stay for the days around the wedding. We thought that one way to do it would be for people to stay in a hotel in a town called Mataró, just north of Barcelona. The hotel is called Hotel NH Ciutat de Mataró. Mataró is well situated because it is almost halfway between where the ceremony and the reception will be. We recommend staying in the NH Hotel the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding.

We will be hiring a mini-bus to provide transport for those people who need it. The mini-bus will collect people from the NH hotel on the day of the wedding and bring them to the church in Barcelona. After the wedding the mini-bus will then take people up the coast to the restaurant. Then, at the end of the night, the mini-bus will take people back to the NH Hotel (about a 15 minute drive) and then all the way back to Barcelona for anyone who needs it.

The price of a room in the hotel is 11.770 Pesetas (tax included) per double room (about 50 pounds). Unfortuately there is no discount for single rooms.
Breakfast is 1.500 Pesetas (tax included) per person (about 6 pounds).
There may be a discount on these prices if we do a group booking but we will have to wait and see how many people we are altogether.

Other Places To Stay

If you want to make a longer holiday of your time here there are various options of where to stay.

Lloret de Mar

Lloret is a typical tourist town on the Costa Brava (the Mediterranean coast north of Barcelona). It is normally full of English, German and other foreign tourists. This is the sort of place you could stay if you are looking for loads of bars, discos and general partying at night and going to the beach during the day. We will be trying to get some prices of apartments there but the best thing might be to look in a travel agent for a package tour which would probably work out cheaper and would include flights and transport to and from the airport.

Barcelona

There are loads of hotels in Barcelona but they can be expensive. There aren't any in particular that we can recommend but one which we know of where some people will be staying is an aparthotel. It is called Aparthotel Silver and is fairly central in Barcelona and very close to a Metro station (Fontana which is on the green line). I have the prices somewhere so I will add them here soon. You can get to just about any of the tourist attractions in Barcelona via the Metro and there are also special tourist buses which take you straight to the points of interest.

Renting Cars

A car isn't really needed if you are going to be sightseeing in Barcelona but for anyone who is interested in renting a car to be able to go up or down the coast, Easy RentACar may have cheap cars available. The prices start from 9 pounds per day but I think you have to book early. The web-site for booking is www.easyrentacar.com - booking online only!
